Trust & safety
Safe recruitment, in the open
Overseas job scams are common. Here is how BIMRA works, what you should never be asked to do, and how to check any offer yourself.
Fees
Ask what you are paying for
Before you pay anything to anyone, ask for the amount, the reason and a written receipt - and check with us first.
How it works
What happens, step by step
- 1
Requirement brief
We scope the role, headcount and timeline directly with the employer.
- 2
Sourcing & screening
Candidates are sourced against the brief and pre-screened for fit.
- 3
Shortlisting & interview
A shortlist is presented; interviews run in person or by video.
- 4
Selection
The employer confirms final candidates for offer.
- 5
Offer & contract
Offer letters and contracts are issued and countersigned.
- 6
Medical & documentation
Medical fitness and paperwork are completed and verified.
- 7
Visa stamping
Work visa is processed and stamped for the destination country.
- 8
Travel & deployment
Tickets are booked and the candidate is deployed on schedule.
Protect yourself
Warning signs of a fake offer
- Someone asks you to pay before you have a written offer, or to pay into a personal account or mobile wallet.
- You are told to pay "today" or lose the job.
- You are hired with no interview, test or check of your skills.
- The salary is far higher than similar jobs.
- You are asked to send your passport, bank details or a one-time code (OTP) in a chat.
- The messages come from a free email address or an unknown phone number, not from the company's own address.
